A 3 Year Journey
As we Flourish Together on this 3-year journey, one of the tools we will use is the “Flourishing Measure.” It’s a resource designed to facilitate awareness of personal well-being related to the 6 domains of Human Flourishing: Happiness and Life Satisfaction, Mental and Physical Health, Meaning and Purpose, Character and Virtue, Close Social Relationships, and Financial and Material Stability.
As with any tool, when used correctly, the Flourishing Measure does some things very well. It can help identify areas of both health and unhealth in our lives. It can begin to “customize” the broad topic of flourishing for each person. The combination of strengths and weaknesses will be unique to the individual.

We are using the Flourishing Measure to help accomplish the following goals:
Create Awareness.
The whole flourishing concept is new to most people. The first step is to introduce the topic and promote initial familiarity with the movement.
Provide Clarity.
The second step is to explain the substance of the effort. What is “flourishing” all about? Why are we focusing on this for the next 3 years?
Provoke Incentive.
Ideally, sufficient clarity will spark a desire for growth and health. We want to nurture the motivation for and commitment to positive change.
Support Alignment.
Ultimately, some adjustments are required. Nothing changes until something changes. What do you need to address? How will you do it?
Take the Next Step
Like a cookbook or a weight machine, the Flourishing Measure can’t accomplish anything on its own. Simply having it at your disposal does you no good. You’ve got to use it to gain the benefit.
Take the Flourishing Measure. Ask God to show you what you need to see in your responses. Where are you doing well? Where would you like to do better?
Now, commit to being part of our Flourishing Together adventure. We want to be Flourishing Christians who are part of a Flourishing Congregation helping to create a Flourishing Community. Blessed people bless people!
