ROOTS – V. (1) TO BECOME FIXED OR ESTABLISHED;
(2) TO IMPLANT OR ESTABLISH DEEPLY;

A tree’s life and vitality is anchored in the roots that travel deep beneath the soil and become the foundation of its sustainability.  So it is with the spread of God’s truth from one culture to another. If the life giving promise of Christ is going to flourish with vibrant sustainability its roots must travel with great depth and width.  As a result, one of the core missional objectives of FBCA is the importance of spreading the gospel through long-term efforts so that the message may take root within another culture.

WE ARE A SENDING CHURCH

Why?HowSend Me

Jesus’ call to discipleship is an invitation to “come and follow” him.  However, that “following” has a purpose of transformation, namely, that he would make us “fishers of men.”  With a final commission to “go into all nations” it is evident Jesus wants us to be disciples who make disciples.  That sort of call requires long-term investment.  It means living incarnationally among those who have never heard.  So Biblically, we are delighted by the mandate to go.

Even more interesting is the way in which the Scriptures reveal God’s purpose for the Church. Paul’s letter to Ephesus explains that God’s plan is to reveal his manifold wisdom through “the church.”  Over and over again we see the Biblical text explain that God plans on revealing His saving work through the broken yet redeemed body of believers.  As a result, we are a church that goes and sends.

FBCA has a long history of working through denominational partners with a commitment to the Great Commission.  That practice still exists today and will continue to thrive for the foreseeable future.  In addition to this heritage, for the past 5 years FBCA has complimented this approach with an intentional drive towards equipping, sending and supervising our own Cross-Cultural Workers (CCW’s).  Here’s a brief summary of “how” FBCA sends it’s own people:
