Leadership Opportunities
Our Adult Ministry seeks to meet the unique challenges and opportunities in each stage of “grown up” life. Regardless of your work or marital status – and in the middle of aging bodies, children and parents – we want to help you develop healthy and accountable relationships. Our ultimate goal is to glorify God together by following the Jesus Way.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Each team member is expected to have a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, be a baptized believer, and a member of First Baptist Church.
- Each team member should have a sense of calling to this ministry and a desire to see others grow spiritually.
- Each team member must be willing to cooperate and work together with other leaders.
- Each team member is expected to communicate his/her calling and commitment by being present and on time each week. It is impossible to develop relationships or exert significant influence if a leader is frequently absent or late.
- We recognize that each team member is at a different “life stage.” Some have more time to devote to ministry than others. Everyone, however, is expected to invest in ministry, to some degree, at times other than Sunday morning. Personal preparation, departmental meetings or socials, church-wide programs and events, and crisis care may all require additional time commitments.
- Each team member is expected to go through The basiX curriculum to gain a sound, overall understanding of our church.
Regardless of interest, experience or spiritual giftedness, we believe it’s important for ALL of our leaders to commit themselves to our central mission statement of “glorifying GOD by following The Jesus Way.”
“We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.”
I Thessalonians 2:8,11
