What year did you start working at First Baptist? 2009

Tell us how you came to know Christ:
June 1994 Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Paris, Texas. I would say that was a jump start to my walk with the Lord. Sunday school teachers like Mike Tibbets also played a key role.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I love knowing that every day the media ministry is putting the word out “there” in several forms. There are so many mediums out there and we try to cover all of them. I also love the fact that we provide an audio/visual aid for every person worshiping on a Sunday morning.

What’s your favorite Bible verse currently?
Ecclesiastes 3:14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

What do you feel like God is teaching you lately?
That plans change. His plan is the only one that matters. What I think the plan is in my mind is irrelevant.

What are your hobbies?
Well I love live music! I go to a lot of country shows, primarily Texas country. Also I bleed silver and blue, the Cowboys are my team. I pull for the Texas Longhorns on the college side of things.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
Growing up I always wanted to be on the radio. Somehow things fell my way, and at age 17 I was hired at a radio station and had my own show by 19. I can honestly say I’m one of the few people out there that got to live there childhood dream.

Tell us a bit about your family?
My parents live & work in Denton. I also have one younger sister who lives there too. I have a 4 year old miniature dachshund; his name is Fowler!

What’s your favorite meal and who would be attending?
My ideal meal would have to be visiting with musician Kevin Fowler, over a hot plate of enchiladas in Austin, Texas.

Tell us a little known fact about yourself:
OK. I love the show Lost. OK I’m addicted. Without a doubt my favorite move of all time is Lonesome Dove. I also love dry sarcastic comedy like Jerry Seinfeld! My dislikes include spiders, wet socks, onions, ranch dressing, cats, the color red, flip flops, cold weather, dirty hands, and lengthy phone calls that should take less than 5 minutes.

Why should someone get involved at First Baptist Church Arlington?
It is a place of love. I’ve never been on a staff that loved each other the way FBCA does. With that said I believe it is contagious to everyone that walks through the door. Everyone truly does care about each person regardless of where they have been or where they are going. We all keep each other accountable to following the Jesus way.
