International Friends

International Friends was established in our church in 1972. We minister to the needs of families in our multi-cultural community through English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.  International Friends assists internationals as they adjust to life in the United States. Students in the program improve their conversational English, learn about American culture and hear about the Christian faith. International Friends meets Wednesday mornings from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. September through May.   Visit the International Friends page for more information.

By Your Side

Did you know that more than 90 countries are represented on UTA’s campus?  That means we can visit more than 90 different cultures without ever having to get on a plane or having a passport.  We can literally bless the nations by just walking across the street.  If you would like to be a host family or friend for an international student then you need to visit the By Your Side page for more details.

Through Amicus International Student Exchange, students from all over the globe come to the United States and live with families who love Christ. During the school year, students also have the opportunity to participate in Young Life area activities. Students are exposed to the Gospel through host family relationships, churches the families attend and Young Life clubs and camps.

All over the United States, volunteer families who are willing to open their homes and host an Amicus student for one year. If you want to use your gift of hospitality and be a missionary from your own home, this is for you! You can express God’s love through your lifestyle and plug the Amicus student into Young Life and a church in the local community. Students can go back to their home countries with their lives changed and impact their own countries for Christ. Your family will be blessed by the experience. Make an eternal difference in the life of an exchange student. Be a host family!

The Home Team

Perhaps the idea of going and serving overseas isn’t as likely for you but you are still passionate about missions.  The Home Team is a group of volunteers that help mobilize our efforts by providing much needed support here at home.  We have nurses that help us organize supplies for medical trips.  We have electricians and handymen that help us with construction trips.  A number of volunteers help prepare VBS material for any trips involved with children.  Many other teams exist to help us abroad.  If you’d like to help to then visit the Home Team page for more information.
