Leadership Opportunities
Be Disciples Who Make Disciples
This is the guiding strategy of FBCA’s global ministries efforts. So, how do you help lead the our church in this commitment? Check out the various leadership opportunities below.
Navigate through the different opportunities by selecting the different tabs that represent various categories within global ministries.
Lead a Crave Group
First Baptist Arlington needs to be known as a church that knows how to pray. We want to be led by the Holy Spirit in all that we do. The vision behind the prayer focus of global ministries (Crave) is to have dozens of small groups meeting periodically throughout the year to pray for our mission work. We’d love for every member of our church to be a part of a crave group. Each group can have a specific focus, such as Sierra Leone, Niger, China, etc. but we need more leaders to make this happen. Perhaps that’s you? Perhaps you’d be willing to help our church become known as a church that knows how to pray. Click the “next step” button below to let us know or visit our page dedicated to Crave Groups.
Lead Worship for a Crave Group
Are you a musician? Do you enjoy singing and leading worship? If that’s you then your skills could be a valuable component of a crave group. We need a pool of musicians that are willing to help various Crave groups include a component of worship when they gather to pray. Click the “next step” button below to let us know if that’s you.
Host a Crave Group
Maybe you aren’t as comfortable facilitating or leading a group but love to have people in your home. We’d love to have dozens of Crave groups meeting throughout the year in the homes of our people. If you are willing to open up your home to host a Crave group the click the “next step” button below to let us know more about it.
Serve Overseas
It’s a lofty call but one that can’t be ignored. Perhaps God is calling you to go. First Baptist Arlington is committed to being a sending church that helps equip, support and supervise it’s own Cross-Cultural Workers (missionaries). Maybe that’s you? Do you feel called to serve overseas on a long-term basis (1 year or more)? We want to know about it. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Let’s be a church that addresses that need.

Lead a Trip
In 2012 First Baptist Church Arlington tentatively scheduled up to 20 opportunities for our people to serve God through a short-term trip. From countries in West Africa to East Asia, our church is literally serving all over the world. These efforts are coordinated by a group of dedicated believers that meet monthly as the “Volunteer Missions Team.” The good news is that the Volunteer Missions Team is an open group and is always praying for more leaders to help coordinate these efforts. Here’s what is currently needed:
*Co-Leaders for Existing Efforts
Working in teams is always better than working alone. Consequently, our current leaders could always use some help. Current countries that we would love to have you prayerfully consider leading would be Sierra Leone, Niger, Central Asia, East Asia, India, and New York. Even if you can’t always go, perhaps your skills can help us coordinate these efforts.
*New Leaders for New Efforts
Perhaps God is calling you to work in an area of the world that we currently aren’t going. Did you know the VMT has a process for people to pursue that call so that we can all evaluate if it is something FBCA can endorse in the future. We would love new leaders to keep challenging us to pursue new opportunities in the world. If that’s you, we’d love to know it so we can talk about what this process would entail.
Join the Water Well Team
- 884 million people – about one in eight worldwide – lack access to safe drinking water
- Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease.
- For children under age five, water-related diseases are the leading cause of death.
- 88 percent of all diseases are caused by unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.
Has the plight of the world touched your heart? Have you ever thought what can I do about it? Now is your chance. Join the Well Drilling Team by contacting Dan Friend.

Reaching the “Nations” in Arlington
There are a number of ways you can be a blessing to the nations by merely engaging here locally. We would love to have more leaders make an impact on our community as well as the world by engaging in one of several ministries. Be a host family for an international student through By Your Side. Develop lasting friendships by teaching English at International Friends on Wednesday mornings. Or maybe you can help mobilize our efforts abroad by serving on the Home Team. Whatever it is, we encourage you to be a blessing to the nations here in Arlington.
